I thought I should put up my ‘journey’ as an ‘artist’. I don’t really count myself as an artist and would not really call this a journey but anywho here we go:

1998 - 2000

Mid 1998 I apparently did my first drawing ever. I was three years old. I asked my mother for a pen and I drew an elephant. From then on I continued to draw when I was bored and at church when I was very bored. Lots of TMNT type stuff. in 2000 I spent nearly every week day drawing at kindergarten/pre-school because I was bored. Sometimes I played with blocks but mostly just drew. 

2001 - 2004

Thought I was the best drawer in the universe. I used to draw at lunch because I didn’t want to play, this is in grade one. And my friends would watch me. They said I was good. I thought I was the king of the universe. Pretty crap. In 2004 I read LOTR and began drawing fantasy. Lots of fantasy stuff. Dragons and whatnot.

2005

I drew a lot of fantasy still but also heaps of robots. I mean heaps. A have lots of books filled with robot drawings. But yeah, still mainly fantasy. Just drawing in school books etc.

2006 - 2007

I stopped drawing robots and kept drawing fantasy. Nothing amazing. I played heaps of games like Dungeons and Dragons at lunch with friends and always illustrated our battles. It was pretty neat. I had lots of time to draw at after school care at this time. Mum worked a lot so we were at school for ages. I just drew on scrap paper and stuff.

2008 - 2009

I discovered manga. And wanted to draw like Oda. This totally flipped what I drew and how I drew it. I home-schooled from 2008 so I had lots and lots of time to draw. So I did. And it was mainly ONE PIECE fanart but also my own character. He had this crayon that could make things come to life and stuff. He was great. And a bad guy magician. Who could destroy stuff with cards. I need to find those pictures. :P

2010 - 2011

In 2010 I began going to an art school. I didn’t enjoy drawing as much and was much more of a digital artist. Photomanipulation and animation. That was early 2010 anyway. I still read heaps of manga, but didn’t draw seriously, just sketching in maths type of thing. In the second half that really changed. I read KICK-ASS and wanted to make my own comics, I had this post apocalyptic plot that was pretty crap. That idea died out pretty quick. I still have concept sketches though.

At the very end of 2010 though, the last week of school, I read Bakuman. I nearly instantly wanted to become a mangaka, and I still do. I drew so much it’s insane. Filling sketchbook after sketchbook. Everything up here at the moment are sketches from April 2011 onwards.
